The Salvation Army Hosts First Responders Breakfast at the Youth Education Town (YET)

ARLINGTON (March 23, 2017) - The Salvation Army hosted a First Responders Breakfast at its Youth Education Town (YET) in Arlington on March 1. Firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and government officials from various cities in Tarrant County including Arlington, Mansfield and Pantego, were recognized for service to their communities.

The event also served to kick start The Most Amazing Race 2017. The race helps to raise funds to support Salvation Army programs and services for children and youth at the Youth Education Town.
“The Salvation Army has deep gratitude for the sacrifices made on our behalf by area first responders,” said David Sanders, Chair of The Most Amazing Race 2017. “We are honored and humbled that so many of the leadership took time out of their busy schedules to have breakfast with us.”
Prominent among the attendees were Mansfield Fire Chief Barry Bondurant and Mayor David Cook, Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, Arlington Fire Department Lieutenant David Tyler, and Pantego Assistant Fire Chief Robert Coker and Assistant Police Chief Barry Reeves.
“The Most Amazing Race showcases local organizations and companies, and provides race teams a fun way to raise funds for a great cause,” said Sanders. “We are adding a First Responders Challenge this year to recognize the highest finishing team that has at least one First Responder in the two-person team.” First Responders demonstrated their excitement for this year’s event by trying a couple of race challenges during the breakfast.

“It was a great experience being part of preparations for The Most Amazing Race,” said Arlington Police Department Academy Sergeant Jimmy Salinas. “I want to say thank you for allowing us to give the community a little insight into the decision-making process officers encounter every day.”
The Most Amazing Race 2017 will be held on Saturday, September 9, beginning at 3 p.m. at a location in central Arlington to be announced at a later date.. The race will end on stage at the Levitt Pavilion with a special concert. Early Bird registration opens May 1 at MOSTAmazingRaceTX.org.
