Stephen J. Thomas named director of the Salvation
Army’s social services for Denton County
DALLAS (March 21, 2017) — The Salvation
Army DFW has named Stephen J. Thomas as Denton County Social Services Director.
Thomas has been the Director of
Operations for The Salvation Army’s Service Center in Lewisville for the past 12
months. The center provides free lunches for the needy from Monday to Friday,
access to shower facilities, a food pantry, as well as clothing and employment
Now in his expanded role as Denton County
Social Services Director, Thomas will give oversight for the effective
operations of the Denton Homeless Shelter and social services programs. The
services include free meals, clothing, groceries, and hygiene items for less
fortunate members of the community.
He will help promote the good
relationship between The Salvation Army and the local communities, and prepare
statistical records and other reports reflecting The Salvation Army’s progress
at serving people at both its Lewisville and Denton service centers. The two
centers provide spiritual counseling, financial aid and referral assistance.
Before joining The Salvation Army, Thomas
was a sales executive who oversaw sales and marketing for retail and wholesale
in the consumer packaged goods industry. He has won many commendations for his
outstanding passion for people, innovation and leadership skills. He has an
excellent track record of effectively collaborating with many partners, vendors,
and clients, which resulted in successfully managed sales teams in North

The Salvation Army, Thomas had been a volunteer at the organization’s service
center in Lewisville since 2014.
