Heat Wave Relief!
The Salvation Army DFW has received 973 box fans for distribution to people in need
Westlake ACE Hardware recently hosted a fan drive to benefit The Salvation Army, and DFW customers generously donated $12,925 to purchase 923 new box fans to help their fellow citizens in need. Westlake donated an additional 50 fans for a total of 973 fans.
Westlake Hardware stores in the following cities participated: Arlington, Colleyville, Mansfield, Fort Worth, Farmers Branch, Lewisville, Carrollton, Seagoville and Princeton. To find out how much was raised in each specific location, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Salvation Army is distributing the fans at its various social service centers in the DFW Metroplex. For more information about eligibility to receive a fan, contact your local Salvation Army center.
Summer is in full swing for several more weeks with oppressive heat indexes forecast for the DFW Metroplex. Heat poses a real danger to the elderly, families with young children and those with medical issues. Fans are critical to keeping those without air conditioning or who are on a fixed income comfortable and safe during the hot summer.
