Motivated by the Love of God
First and foremost, The Salvation Army is a part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Everywhere he went Jesus met human needs. He healed the sick, he fed the hungry and he taught that we should always remember to help the poor among us. The Salvation Army's holistic ministry of meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs is an outgrowth of the ministry Jesus began more than 2000 years ago.
Although The Salvation Army is a faith-based organization it is important to point out that there are no religious requirements whatsoever in order for a person to receive help and services. The Salvation Army's Mission Statement affirms our commitment to meet human needs in the name of Jesus Christ without discrimination.
